How to use Ditch Witch Subsite TK Recon series locators

This page serves as a brief instruction for individuals who have previous experience using equipment similar to the one you have purchased. We strongly recommend that prior to using your equipment, you carefully read the manual that accompanies it. It is essential that you keep the manual with the equipment at all times for future reference. In the event that you require a replacement copy of the manual, please contact your dealer.

Before using the system, it is important to calibrate it properly. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Turn on the TK RECON Tracker and TD RECON/COMMANDER 7 Remote Display.
  2. Place the beacons in a triangular formation around the area you want to locate.
  3. Use the Tracker to locate each beacon and record their positions.
  4. Enter these positions into the TD RECON/COMMANDER 7 Remote Display.

Once calibrated, you can begin using the system for locating procedures. Follow these steps:

  5. Use the Tracker to locate your target underground utility or object.
  6. If necessary, use soft excavation techniques to expose lines before drilling or backreaming.

It is important to note that if utility must be crossed, you should expose lines by careful hand digging or soft excavation before drilling or backreaming. The Tracker operator must watch the drill head during drilling and backreaming, and have communication with the drill operator or enable DrillLok® system with DrillLok key in tracker operator's possession.

By following these steps and guidelines, you can effectively use your TK RECON Series Guidance System for locating procedures while minimizing interference and ensuring safety during utility crossings.
